The TRAK T-1600 Folding Kayak is the world’s only performance kayak that goes in a pack. You can think of it's adaptability like that of an "all-wheel drive" performance vechicle on land, or "gears" on a mountain bike. The T-1600 strikes a perfect balance between ease of use and high performance. If you're an expert, you'll love its incredible responsiveness and agility. If you're a beginner, there's never been a boat that makes kayaking easier and more enjoyable - anywhere on any water. Choice of light green or gold skin.
Performance: The TRAK changes shape, which changes everything. Hydraulics inside the cockpit enable you to instantly shift the shape of the kayak’s hull. So you can adjust your TRAK for straight speed. Then shift its shape to turn easily. Or neutralize a cross wind without a rudder.
Side profile: Straight Keel for maximum speed (tracking)
Side profile: Curved Keel for easy maneuverability
Portability: Gone are the days when the only reason to consider a skin-on-frame kayak is just because you wanted to travel. It’s everything you’ve ever wanted in one kayak. With TRAK, there is no performance trade-off for gaining portability. TRAK goes from pack to water – or back again – in 10 minutes or less. No experience required. There are only 8 pieces and 7 steps.
Durability: TRAK is tough as nails. Drag it, drop it, surf it, rock it. Our expedition-grade materials make it the most durable high performance kayak available.

This new sock is made of a material called 'auqatherm' and is a much better quality than the previous versions.
NOTE: Float bags are included with your kayak, so the sea sock is not required for floatation. It's simply for keeping you clean, dry and warm.

TRAK Technology
What’s it like to paddle a TRAK? Like nothing else. You might think of it as all-wheel-drive in a land vehicle or gears on a mountain bike. Only better. TRAK simply performs unlike any kayak ever made. We promise.
What makes the TRAK unique? Dozens of innovations and patents reside in every TRAK. Here are some highlights:
Tri-active Performance System™ (TPS)
TPS enables optimum performance in any condition
|
-
The TRAK TPS system is comprised of three self-contained hydraulic jacks, located in the cockpit.
-
By pulling the handling, the TPS micro-adjusts the shape of the hull to optimize it for changing wind and water conditions.
-
A quick release valve on each jack releases the tension, returning the kayak to initial position.
- All parts are made from stainless steel and are corrosion resistant.
|
VariTRAK Adjustable Rocker™
Micro-adjust the curvature of the hull for different paddling conditions.
You used to have to choose between a kayak designed for speed or one that turned easily. But you could never get both in a single kayak. That’s all changed with TRAK. The Tri-active Performance System™ (TPS) jack in the keel allows you to adjust the rocker of your TRAK, which increases or decreases its maneuverability. And conversely decreases or increases its speed. Changing the shape of the kayak is effortlessly done on the water, right from the cockpit. A single hydraulic lever in front of the seat can dramatically increase the upward curvature of the hull along the entire keel line. Every pull on the keel jack increases the rocker. As the tips start to lift out of the water line, the amount of keel in the water “shortens” making TRAK extremely maneuverable. Ever spun a sea kayak? The result is that TRAK can change shape in seconds from fast tracking to easy maneuverability and everything in between. With a long water line (no curvature in the hull), the kayak will go straight and fast (track efficiently). With a shorter water line (or extreme curvature in the hull) the kayak is exceptionally easy to maneuver and will be more responsive and playful. |
VariTRIM Lateral Adjustment™
Micro-adjust the gunwales to maintain tracking without a rudder.
Hydraulic levers on the interior left and right sides of the cockpit allow you to instantly shift the lateral shape of TRAK – literally to bend your kayak to the left or right – giving you immense control over the conditions. The entire length of the kayak arcs to provides lateral resistance to mitigate weathercocking, and eliminating paddling fatigue over long distances. The “bend” enables the paddler to steer the kayak without a rudder or skeg with balanced paddle strokes. The result is its ability to effortlessly neutralize cross winds. TRAK provides ergonomic advantages as well. Most people have a dominant arm, and kayakers typically have to compensate for this by paddling harder on one side. VariTRIM solves this differential by simply adjusting the kayak’s shape. |
TEN-&-IN Portability™
7 steps, 8 pieces, 10 minutes, no joke.
TRAK Kayaks knows that you want to go from pack to water or water to pack without breaking a sweat. We also know that if your kayak is too difficult to assemble, it will take away from your paddling experience. We know this, because we feel the same way. So we did something about it. Using a simple, intuitive process the TRAK kayak goes together easily, even if “do-it-yourself” isn’t your style.
-
The entire TRAK kayak can be transported in a stylish OGIO® Pack in ten minutes or less.
-
Airport friendly, condo-compatible and trunkable.
-
It is incredibly easy and intuitive to assemble having only 8 pieces.
-
Quick start photo guide and a full length instructional DVD is included. You can even download it to your iPod for assembly on the go.
- Pack size: 52 x 17 x 15 in / 132 x 43 x 38 cm
|
Keder Storage System™
Loading and unloading is easier than ever.
 |
-
Our Keder Storage System is an aluminum extrusion sliding on a track that provides quick and easy access to your gear, without the hassle of leaky, failing hatches.
-
When opened it provides complete access to the ample storage cavity inside the stern.
-
When closed it provides a fail-safe water tight seal.
-
The Keder system has a stop on it to ensure it locks into the coaming.
- With the flat rib profile of the TRAK, gear bags can easily be loaded in the bow from the cockpit.
|
Command Seat
Designed with comfort in mind.
Adjustable Thigh Braces
From aggressive control to nothing at all.
-
Easy to remove hardware allows each paddler to adjust the position of the braces along the underside of the coaming, or removed entirely.
-
For a comfortable fit the braces are padded.
- There are 32 unique positions in all.
|
PolyTRAK Shell™
Unmatched durability.
 |
-
Our exclusive, expedition-grade PolyTRAK shell is completely waterproof as well as virtually puncture proof and abrasion resistant.
-
A custom polyurethane material and indestructible welded seams make TRAK the toughest and most durable kayak on the market.
-
This gives TRAK paddlers the option to handle rough seas and rivers (Class 4) water and the confidence to tread any rocky shore.
- The high performance PolyTRAK shell gives paddlers a feel for the water, the way a sports car gives a feel for the road.
|
RigiTEK™ Aerospace Frame
Exceptionally lightweight and strong.
 |
-
The RigiTEK frame is constructed from aerospace-grade anodized aluminum for strength, lightness and rigidity.
-
The entire frame is anodized to protect against corrosion and wear.
-
All tubing is connected with shock-cording, and the ribs and bow/stern plates in each section are attached so there are no loose pieces.
- The flat profile ribs, ultra-strong coaming and other parts are made from extremely durable urethane.
