Kayak Paddles and Stand Up Paddles
|
Portable Kayaks.com has a variety of paddles by Sea Eagle and Cannon. At Cannon Paddles, their business is simply paddles! Based in Minnesota and "Made In USA", Cannon Paddle's commitment is to deliver high quality paddles at exceptional values to their customers. Cannon Paddles are truly "Engineered for Adventure." We've broken down our selection into three areas; All-Purpose, Recreational, and Touring to help you in selecting the right paddle. We also offer Cannon's K-Series Paddles, specially designed for younger paddlers. Whether you want to ride the surf of the Caribbean Seas, explore the Great Lakes, move your way through the distant waters of Santorini, take on a bit of the Pacific Rim, or just paddle with your kids in smooth, close-to-home waters, Cannon has the paddle to suit your performance needs, style and quality expectations.

| Cannon Paddles: Now Available in 'Four Piece' Option |
|
Cannon uses only the finest shaft materials ranging from aircraft grade aluminum to high strength to weight ratio carbon graphite.
|
Cannon is proud to offer a 100% fiberglass 'ferrule joint' system. Previously used on only higher priced paddles, Cannon feels that something this strong should be standard.
|
Recreational Kayak Paddles: The term “recreational” as we want you to know it has little to do with the history of the world. It is all about “re-creating” oneself as it comes to us from the Latin , “recrear”. Maybe “recrear” means having an exhilarating day ripping through the sea or maybe it’s passing a carefree day with the family out on a kayaking expedition where you might be observing nature with your kids, just spending time building memories. These are paddles for the occasion.
Touring Kayak Paddles: Touring when in a kayak means just that, going on a tour. It is a sport dedicated to oceans, seas or other large bodies of water. A Touring Kayak Excursion brings one into the realms of nature that are often not experienced by other types of boating. One may experience an intimacy with nature due to the very fact that you are facing the elements in a craft made for quick response time to the elements and using tools to maneuver you that allow for precise movement in the water.
Children's Paddles: These "K-Series" paddles are designed for children or for someone with a small hand size. Of course, they're made with high standards and top-notch Cannon Paddle quality.

Choosing A Kayak Paddle
All of the paddles sold at PortableKayaks.com are excellent quality and highly reliable. The chart below has some general guidelines to follow when choosing a kayak paddle. The chart is based upon the fact that most of the time taller people need longer paddles. It's also based on the width of your kayak. For example, inflatable kayak paddles should be longer than folding or hard shell kayak paddles because inflatable kayaks tend to be wider. Longer paddles can be better for speed, shorter paddles may be better for control and the blade designs all have a different purpose. Paddles are measured in centimeters. The shortest is 210 cm (83 inches) and the longest is 240 cm (94.5 inches).
For beginners, the best choice is to buy a lower end all-purpose or recreational paddle before worrying about the complexities of blade design or even length. Often taller people like shorter paddles and vice versa. If you feel you can afford to pay for a lighter fiberglass or carbon shaft, that may be an option but it's not necessary when you're just starting out or when you don't paddle too often or on very long trips. Eventually you may want a paddle with specifications to better fit your paddling needs and style once those factors are established. You’ll find, though, that choosing a kayak paddle really comes down to personal preference.
